You will add value by:

  • Being the practice leader to operate and grow the development, delivery, and sales of management consulting services to colleges and universities.
  • Engaging with client personnel at the executive and senior management levels across all areas of the client organization. Successful candidates must have proven experience and success at the C level of an institution.
  • Creating, selling, operating and managing the delivery of engagements for our customers in aligning people, process and/or technology to a school's unique strategic direction. This may include short term workshops, longer term transformational projects and/or advisory services.
  • Supporting sales and services by providing thought leadership both internally and to the customer community through participation in publications, blogs as well as national and regional conferences.
Sales Cycle
  • Providing business development support by serving as a lead advisor to prospective higher education clients and Ellucian team members.
  • Participating in Strategic Account Reviews working collaboratively with appropriate subject matter experts to evaluate prospective client's needs to develop a business solution that is targeted to those requirements.
  • Crafting sales proposals and presenting services to prospects.
Delivery Cycle
  • Ensuring delivery quality of offerings, such as auditing engagements and providing coaching to staff.
  • Providing executive leadership with summary insight into how the practice is performing via KPIs and dashboards (P&L, sales pipeline, bookings) and ensuring new engagements are staffed and resourced appropriately.
  • Innovation and thought leadership is key to growing the Management Consulting practice.
  • Staying on top of strategic industry problems and crafting methodologies and frameworks to help schools solve these problems.
  • Developing the go to market and delivery materials that encapsulate new offerings and bring them to market.
  • Types of strategic consulting engagements this Management Consulting Director would participate in include business process optimization, business intelligence, strategic enrollment management, student success, shared services, governance, program management, advisory and other types of management consulting projects and workshops to help enable conversations across administration, academics and technical groups that lead to improved institutional effectiveness.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, with ability to relate complex concepts clearly to executive audiences.

  • Strong understanding of how the application of technology can meet the strategic needs of an institution, including enterprise systems, web technologies, content management, document management, identity and access management.
  • Ability to design solutions and plans to implement the solution, including considerations for strategy, people (i.e. culture and organization), process and technology.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with complex clients to discover cultural, technical, and functional conditions, assess the unique needs of the institution, and design solution sets.
  • Ability to lead virtual teams (both at the client level and within Ellucian), to facilitate the creation of a solution while overseeing the execution of the project.
  • Extensive experience in consulting, including discovery, solutions definition, strategy, executive presentations, facilitation, documentation, implementation, business process modeling, change management, re-engineering, complex problem solving, technology, analysis and evaluation.
  • Experience facilitating executive meetings, focus groups, discovery sessions, and surveys on a wide variety of subjects for a wide spectrum of audiences. Must be able to evaluate audience requirements and adjust facilitation accordingly.
  • Familiarity with current industry trends and issues in higher education, organizational development, strategic planning, change management, leadership, technology, marketing, content management, and business process management.
  • Positive, team-oriented individual with the ability and desire to innovate, create, and develop solutions that have the capability of transforming the effectiveness of higher education.
  • Superior interpersonal and communications skills with an emphasis on relationship building, facilitating, public speaking and presentations.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • High level of initiative with ability to thrive in a self-directed and team environment.
  • Exemplary professionalism, both in appearance and conduct.
Desired Skills/Knowledge/Experience:
  • Solid project planning experience and understanding, project management expertise is a plus.
  • An advanced degree in one of the following areas is preferred: higher education, organizational development, information technology, communications, business administration, business management, business strategy.
  • 10+ years of experience in higher education.
  • Understanding of key performance indicators and scorecard techniques used to align the vision and mission of an organization with operational initiatives.
  • Experience with Ellucian solutions (e.g., Banner, Workflow, Imaging, Luminis, LDIS, Power Campus, etc.)
  • As a global company, second language fluency is an advantage.
