Blogging for Business, is there more than One Way?

?Yesterday morning I read Rich Cedarberg's post about "The ActiveRain Paradox". He makes some very good points about Blogging for Points and for fun vs. Blogging for Business, or to generate income.

I agree 100%.?

Consumers care more about our Market Reports and what we know about the local neighborhoods. These posts generate very few comments but MANY more clicks.

Where many Rainers miss a HUGE opportunity here in the Rain, is the networking and friendships that are created with others in our industry all across the country.

Those members who are only blogging for points, or to reach the top of their state page, miss the fact that if someone comes looking for a Realtor, finds them at the top but with no content, they'll just move down the list until they find someone they like.

I love what he said about getting points:

You see it's easy to get comments and points. Publish in quantity instead of quality. Slam out Wordless Wednesday posts (but use 50 characters to get points). Reblog 5 posts a day. Respond to comments on your blog by creating individual comments for each and every one instead of grouping your responses together, etc, etc, etc.

And there are probably lots of other ways that I haven't thought of too.

Points are worthless without content and relationships.

Last week I was contacted by an AR Member who needed to refer their client's child to someone. Yesterday I received a text message from an AR member in East Tennessee asking if I would like a buyer.

These people contacted me because they know me and trust me.
